Better Leaders – Stronger Teams
Coaching for engineering leaders and the teams they build.
The strongest engineering teams aren’t friction-free — they’ve just built enough trust to work through it fast.
That trust doesn’t happen by accident. It’s grown by managers who know — through learned experience — how to surface the issues a team is quietly carrying, when to step in, and when to hold back. They have learned how to handle both the conversation and the person in front of them using psychologically grounded coaching skills. That trust is also grown by teams and individuals who’ve learned to say what’s actually going on, rather than absorb it quietly. This work builds that capability proactively so it’s there when the team really needs it.
This is coaching as an investment in performance, not a repair job — most valuable for managers building their leadership capability ahead of the challenges scale brings, and for teams strengthening the trust that lets them move fast without breaking down.
My approach is shaped by over 30 years of leading teams in the (UK) military, offshore oil and gas exploration, and global corporate software companies. More recently, this has been grounded by a foundation year in Psychosocial Therapy, and formal study through an accredited coaching and counselling programme.
